Haii!!!! Haven't done anything on DA in a while and I have a perfectly good explantation for it... My scanner broke.. It's horrible.. I have drawn so many things and I can't post them. Once I beg my parents for a new scanner I'm going to spam you with drawings.. I promise! ^^

So I just finished drawing an anime girl version of the Pokémon jynx (purple version) and i found out that there was a controversy concerning the color of jynx's skin. apparently, her skin used to be black because it was a parody of a group Blackface and also something about the ganguro fashion, where japanese girls had tan skin and blond hair, that was popular in Japan then.

Well, when Pokémon came to the USofA there was something about a racist past and then the USofA was offended. Then some children's author, Carole Weaherford (funny last name... weather and a type of car), was super offended and called out Jynx by saying she was a racist stereotype. There was some article about this in a magazine called "Black World Today" and then later episodes of Pokémon weren't shown. Then, in '02, Nintendo changed her face to purple and her hands to purple too.

My opinion on this is that people shouldn't be so offended of this stuff and research why the color of her skin was that way. They just took away some of the Japanese influence on the game. Some people are so critical. I didn't even notice the change of her skin which shows how much I cared what the color of her skin was when I was a kid.

So there you go.. Some knowledge for you brain if someone ever asks you about a funfact you have this option... ^^ haha bye beee! ♥♥
